Psychedelic Spring
Psychedelic Spring, 2018, 36”x24”, Acrylic on canvas
Psychedelic Spring is an ode to the beauty and effervescence of springtime in the Sierras. Wildflowers and lupine bloom along the cliffs of the turquoise Yuba river, pines and spruce sprout bushy and green far into the horizon. The mountains awaken to the spirited bounty of sunshine and melting snow.

Guardians
Guardians, 2018, 18’’ x 18’’, Acrylic on Birch Panel
Guardians is a very personal painting, and very close to my heart. It represents an experience while I was close to death. In this moment I experienced death crawling towards me on a chariot of corpses, and I was indeed terrified. But after appeared out of the rocks two huge guardians who opened what seemed like a portal to another world and asked me, “Are you ready?”. They were the gatekeepers between this world, and the next.

Los Cadejos
Los Cadejos, 2017, Original painting 16’’x 20’’, Acrylic on Canvas
The name Los Cadejos refers to the demon dogs of folklore in Guatemala and El Salvador. These creatures were said to escort the town drunks home to their families, and protect them along the way. In the tales they have glowing red eyes, drip blood from their mouths, and drag long chains behind them as they walk. In some stories the white dog is benevolent and the black dog evil, and in others both are kind guardians despite their fearsome appearance. The painting evolved from a story a friend told me of his journey in the desert, where he was visited by these skeletal canine creatures. I also have two dogs, one black and one white, whose big personality comes through in this piece.

MahaDevi
MahaDevi, 2016, 12’’x 16’’, Acrylic on Canvas
MahaDevi is one name of the supreme mother goddess in Vedic mysticism. She is the great sum of all things; the creator, preserver, and destroyer. The soul of the universe. She represents all the beauty, pain, joy, struggle, wealth, truth, and deception. She holds her hand out in the sign of benevolence and love, and on her slender finger the universe spins.

Overcoming Self Doubt
Overcoming Self doubt, 2014, acrylic on canvas
Originally, I had sketched the concept for this painting as a woman weighed down by doubts and unhappiness, candles and wax spilled down her back as she bent further and further down. But as I began painting the heaviness and sadness from the first draft changed to a smile, there was joy, a new bold hopefulness and strength appeared. Now it is a vision of balance, peace, healthy expression, and a trust in the truth of ourselves.
